Does the host know

I am new to the murder mystery party thing. I just want to know if the host knows who the killer is? Does the host get to play a character?

The host gets to play any character they want and as long as they do not read the Solution or character booklets and confidentials, then they get to solve it also. This is easy to do. Even the downloads won't show any give aways on the screen and will print with a page on top saying don't look!
